So today is my birthday and I got the coolest noise maker ever!

I have not really had a chance to really mess with it, but I did fiddle with it a little and so far its :bigthumb:

There's nothing like that deep metallic sweep those things have.

Flangers are a funny pedal, because they don't sound appropriate for a lot of things. I have an old ADA Flange. One thing I like to use it for is spots where the band stops, preparing to launch into a chorus. I'll turn it on, then mute and rake the the strings, turn it off, then play the main chords of the chorus. It adds a dramatic sound when you mute all the strings with your left hand and strum with your right hand with the effect on. chonk, Chonk, CHONK, Chonk, chonk. LOL

I've found 2 sounds I like so far. One works really well for clean stuff. Kinda sounds like the room is spining. The other is hard to explain. Sounds almost like turning one pickup off and flipping the switch on and off real fast, but more smooth. I had one that my girlfriend said sounded like bubbles. Both of us didn't really like it.

Happy birthday guys. It's always cool getting gear on your birthday, or any day for that matter.

The BF-3 is a combination of the BF-2 and the old brown BF-2B Bass Flanger in to one pedal. I have the BF-2B and prefer it because of its lower voicing for bass. When used in a guitar rig, it has this cool old ADA/MXR flanger quality to it.

Flangers are just fun. It's been a while since I've used the one I have but I'll blow the dust off every once in a while and have fun with it (some Unchained, Bark At The Moon, etc.).
