So where can I get a 100w+ handling 112 cabinet?

Is it possible? Does anyone know any sources for this sort of setup, or, if not, some suggestions for speakers, as I don't think building a cabinet would be incredibly hard with my dad's carpentry and electrician background.

It would be used exclusively for a clean tone, the amp driving it has a max output of 200 or so watts but even for live settings I tend to run it at a quarter volume perhaps. I'm looking for an extension cab for an extended bass range, and I believe at least, if I could get a speaker that sounds relatively mellow or sweeter, the blend between the amp and cabinet would make something beautiful that shows off the full range of the amp circuit itself.

Sort of inspired when I realised a handful of my influences played the Gibson GA-50 amp which was a single amp with a 8 inch and a 12 inch speaker in it.

It may or may not be what you're looking for, but the ElectroVoice EVM-12L has a power handling rating of 300W. EV has also designed a ported, tuned (thiele) enclosure for the speaker. It's the same as the thiele sold by Mesa/Boogie. Maybe you might be able to pick up a used thiele with the EVM-12L in it. There's also the plans for the cabinet published on the Internets if you want to tackle building it yourself.

Celestion has some Century Neodymium speakers that are light and have a very high power rating. You have to remember that cab design will drastically alter the way that a speaker sounds too.

It's too bad you're not going with a lower powered speaker . . . I can't recommend the Cannabis Rex enough for sweet, clean, jazzy sounds in an open back 1x12. It's only rated at 50 watts though.

The Krank Jr cabinet is rated at 120-watts with the Eminence Legend V12.

i use a Marshall 1912 model 1x12 a lot and love it's clean sound with a Peavey C50 head... the stock speaker is only 150 watts 8ohm

for a high power 1x12", yeah its gotta be the EV - agreed on optimal in a thiel ported cab

Any other suggestions from people? I'm still looking and there are.. hundreds of custom cab makers but many I've them I've never heard anything about so I dont know if its trustworthy.

Another vote for the Mesa Boogie 112 EVM Theile cab. I actually have three of these at the moment. I usually don't take one of my Boogie 112 combos to a gig without one of the Theiles to set it on.

New 112 Theiles have the Mesa Black Shadow/Celestion C90. To my thinking, the EVM is the key to this cab.
