solder won't stick to PU coil wire HELP!

Very frustrating. Fixing a noiseless tele neck PU. The top coil's lead broke (these things have a bad habit of doing that because of the design.) The break is obvious and I'm simply trying to solder the two broken ends together but I can't get them so stick for the life of me. I'v never had this problem fixing PU's before. What gives? I've of course scraped the insulation off but. I'm about to loose my cool with this one. Any ideas? :yell:

Tin both ends of the wire. Then hold them together and touch it with the iron. They should flow right together.

I've noticed that solder with a flux core bonds easier. Or, you can buy a little tube of flux, which is a liquid resin that causes solder to stick to metal. That's the brownish residue you see around some solder joints.

Yea, I've tried both flux core and the flux in a tube. I just can't get anything to stick to the coil wire. I've only got the tinyest ends to work with, so I'm trying to add about an inch using extra coil wire I have from other PU repairs. I've never had this problem and its REALLY getting to me. Last set of noiseless PU's I fixed was a strat bridge and it was no problem at all.
