Soldering iron with cold feet?§?

I am trying to rewire my Tele with a 4-way switch and I am having serious trouble!

It seems like the iron is not getting hot enough. I am just enable to unsolder any soldered joints and when I try make a new joint, the solder forms a bubble and rolls away. Never had this issue before.

It is a cheapo iron I bought about 2 years ago. Could it be shot already?

If the tip of the soldering iron is removable, make sure it's tight. Give what your working on plenty of time to warm up. You can't rush solder. If none of the above options work, then I'd say it's time for a new soldering iron and stay away from cheap ones.
