Wondering if a 25watt soldering iron is okay to use for installing pickups?

Thanks

Re: Soldering Pickups

I dunno, it's good for delecate stuff, but it might be too low for soldering on the back of pots. I have a 45 watt, and I love it. Pretty cheap from Radio Shack. Like 7 bucks cheap.

Beandip is right...I use the Radio Shack solder station that has a 20 watt and 40 watt heat range at the click of a switch..The 40 watt works good for soldering your grounds to the back of the pot and the 20 watt is good around the other wiring to the switch, pot terminals etc..

If I had to buy just one iron though,I think a 30 watt would work...

I probably use the same one John uses, and it does a pretty good job plus it's nice having a good stand that you can drop the iron into when hot but not in use. I think I paid $20 for mine.
From what I was paying a guitar-tech to install pickups in my guitars before I became a member in this forum, it paid for itself two times over the first time I used it.
