What's the difference between this 3 (the 1st features the Carvin BR speakers I think, the 2nd the G12Ts and the legacy has the vintage 30's).

G412T

412VT

Legacy

Anyone with xp or just heard these 3?

I hear good things about those carvin speakers.....

Thanks!

Re: Some Carvin countdown

The difference would just be your preference in speaker type as far as G12t75's or V30's.
As far as Carvin's British series speakers, the old one's from the 80's and 90's sound really good. The new British series speakers that are available now are made by Eminence.... it's usually printed right on the side of the magnet.

Cab build quality is pretty good, however, they did at one time about a year ago contract an overseas company, it might have been a Chinese company, the boxes they shipped in from were from China. They ordered a few hundred and they were not built very well. When they came in, we inspected them and compared them to a Legacy and a GC412. The tolex was very cheap and rubbery, tore easily, not applied very cleanly... we even saw where they touched up parts with black marker where the tolex didn't cover. The white piping was crooked and the grills were wavy at the ends.

We informed them right away and they instructed us to remove the Carvin logo and the sticker on the back that had an American flag and stamped Made in U.S.A. They told us to blow them out at $199 each.

Thanks for the information WhamyBar.

I'm looking for a cab with strong yet clear low end, punchy and tight overall sound to match an Engl Powerball (all these will take place next year though, so I have time for now)......

Hmmm, some interesting cases are the Krankenstein one, the B-52 AT 412 and those Carvins.:scratchch

Re: Some Carvin countdown

I have a Legacy 4x12. I put 2 G12T-75's in there, to make a V30/G12T X pattern. It sounds huge.

That's probably exactly what I would do. I'm currently using a straight cab with V30's and G12H30's in an X, but I would like to try the G12T-75's like the Bogner cabs to see if I like that.

You'd also probably save some money going with Avatar cabs and better selection of speaker choices.

Carvin's cabs are great for the price, and better made than some that cost more. I don't like hauling 4x12s anymore, but I had a Legacy cab that I used w/a Hiwatt, and it kicked ass. Very sturdy, also. However, I don't know how the V30s would work for you.
