Some help on neck pup

Well, I've been reading reviews on this forum and the descriptions on the website, but I still can't decide which neck pup to use in the guitar I'm building. It's a H-S-H guitar with a maple neck, rosewood fretboard, and mahogany body shaped similarily to the prs custom 24. I'm pretty sure I'm going to put a JB in the bridge and a Duckbucker in the middle position, so I need a pup that will fit well with those two.

Anyway, I'm looking for a pickup that sounds great with cleans, is very articulate, and has a nice warm, fat tone to it, but can perform decently with gain. I was thinking of using the Jazz, but based on some of the comments on this board, it doesn't have much of a warm tone and isn't good with gain. The Seth Lover seemed ideal, but I don't think it will go well with the JB...

Any help would be welcome!

I think the Jazz is a GREAT neck pickup. It's full, Round, Warm. To me, it's everything a Great neck pickup should be. :)

I'm a true blue Jazz Model lover and user. However, it just doesn't fit the description that you're giving. The Alnico II Pro fits your description 10 times better than the Jazz Model. It's a great neck pickup as well. It's most definitely warm and fat. It's not as articulate as the Jazz (not much is that I know of), but it is articulate enough.

Re: Some help on neck pup

The Jazz is my favorite alnico 5 neck HB...the Seth Lover and Antiquity are my two favorite alnico 2 neck HB's. I need to try the Alnico II Pro...I have not. The Jazz will have more lows and more highs than the Seth Lover...but the the Seth Lover will have more mids and because it has softer lows, I find it easier to dial in a nice clean jazzy tone from it without the tone getting muddy. They ALL can rock! Just depends how you play and set up the volume and tone controls on the amp.

Yup, that's the first pup that came to my mind.
