Re: Some more stuff for sale!

Will those Grovers fit in an oldschool style tuner key mount hole? I've got a Kay that needs new tuners, and I don't wanna buy another set of 3-in-line by 3-in-line insets, because chances are they'll all hold tune just about as well.

Here's a similar guitar with the same tuners.

I'd rather not drill them larger, considering the age of the thing.

Any idea what the make of the tone-o-naughty is? Color of the mounting rings?

You have to for sure drill for the mounting screw. I don't know about the post hole. These have a 10mm shaft.

Never tried any Lawrences. Whats the general low down on that bad looking boy?

Re: Some more stuff for sale!

This is one of the lower output models at 7.65k. Very smooth articulate tone. Evenly balanced. They have a pretty good split tone to them. Most people use them in the neck w/ an XL or in the bridge w/ a 500C or H/S/S setup.

Re: Some more stuff for sale!

I haven't ever tried a BL pup. If it were to go into a Les Paul, who's tone would it sound alot like?

That's a good question. The only person I ever recall using an L500R in the neck of an LP was Joe Perry back in the late 70's. I can't give you an honest opinion of what they sound like in the neck of a Mahogany guitar. It's been years since I've had one.

Re: Some more stuff for sale!

What about in the bridge possition?

How are the clean tones? Warm? Anything like a PAF? Does it have any "Glassy Chime" to it? or is it more along the lines of an EMG in sound? I like full bodied huge sounding pups. The EMG's are a bit sterile for my taste. I like the Gibson 57 classics and the 59's and DMZ's Virtual PAF stuff. I have a couple of Duncan Dist. pups that I like but I am about to change them out because I just don't care for thier tone through my Marshall when I play clean. I'm trying to get a Slash tone that I can use for alot of southern rock too.

Think this would be the pup for me?

They're like the EMGs in that they have the articulation, but these have more depth and warmth. They are nothing like a PAF pickup. Bill has stated many times that he doesn't like the "browness" of them. They are very versatile. You can get close to a single coil chime to the growl of a bucker w/ them. They are very sensitive to height and tone/volume control adjustments. I guess the best to compare them to a duncan 59 would be smoother more even tone w/ better articulation/note seperation and not as "wooly" They sparkle w/ a clean setting and stay defined under gain.
