Some odd problem...

So in my guitar, ESP LTD Ninja-600, which is loaded with a JB and a '59, I get this odd feedback and it stops if I open up the back where the pots and cables are and touch the wood of the guitar, the buzzing stops. Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Re: Some odd problem...

is the circuit grounded to the bridge/strings?

Re: Some odd problem...

I haven't thought about that. I didn't check that, but the feedback at times does cut off if I hold the strings so no sound vibrates off of them.

Well you say feedback, and you say buzzing, which are two completely different things, so let's start with feedback.

To kill feedback, first try stepping away from the speakers. Then try turning down the gain. If that solves it, crank it and roll with it. If it doesn't then you might have a microphonic tube in the amp, or pickup in the guitar. I am being very vague and sterotypical here because I'm a lazy writer.

To kill buzz, get humbuckers, and make sure the guitar is properly grounded. If you can take off the cover and touch the wood (I'm assuming there is electrically active paint in this guitar) and it sounds quieter than when you touch the strings, then I'd check that the wire from the bridge to the ground is in tact.

hope that helps, and I'm sure someone else will come along with more info for ya.

Haha, I gotta get more sleep. I never know what I'm typing when my eyes are half way closed... Ha!

Nah, it is buzz for sure. The pickups have only been touched by the ESP dudes or whatever. About checking if the bridge is intact, this affects the neck pickup. Any ideas? Thanks, by the way!
