Some older recordings

This is a song I did a scratch recording of a few years back. The recording became a little bit more of a production than I had intended, but I was making the song up as I went along. I left in all the screw ups, timing glitches and stuff because I think the finished song become so much more than a scratch. At least in my own little world it did, ha ha. The drums are the internal set on my Boss BR-864 8-track recorder, and the COSM modeling in the recorder was used for all the guitars and bass. I used my 1968 Epiphone Casino which had a JB in the bridge at the time and the original P-90 neck, though I don't think I used the neck. I don't think I ever posted it here, but it's one of my personal faves.

This is one of the first songs I ever wrote, about my first love (awww). Wrote it when I was sixteen in 1980, and recorded it in the studio in 1985 which this is the version of. It was supposed to be an acoustic guitar song, but we were right smack dab in the middle of the new wave and hair metal era, so I used my Les Paul in the middle position through my JCM 800s clean channel, and the owner of the studio did the synths, using a Yamaha DX7, TX816, which is basically eight DX7s in rack form, and a Prophet 5. It's a corny love song, but it actually got some radio airplay and we got some gigs out of it. I was a week short of my 22nd birthday when I recorded this. Yeah, it took until 1992, but we started dating and I married her. What a sap I am.

Re: Some older recordings

Wow! Excellent stuff, man! Even the older ones are great.

Thanks TLD. I've got a new project going on with three other guys and I'm hoping to have some new material written and recorded with them soon. I'd really like to go harder with a more modern influence, but that old Led Zeppelin I style keeps coming out of us, lol. Let's see what happens. I'll never be a shredder, but I dig what guys like Alice in Chains, White Zombie, and a lot of the newer bands are putting out. My problem is I'm a music whore. I love everything from Mozart and Al Jolson to Godsmack.

Re: Some older recordings

Nice singing, guitar playing and tone! This has a southern tinge to it but when the solo comes in it leans towards Led Zeppelin. You must be confused?! :)
Anyhow, very nice tune and good job.

I hear that, man; I'm all over the place as well. Keep on rockin'!

Thanks man. Yes, I'm soooo confused, ha ha. I really am. I like so many different kinds of music that when I write, it all bleeds together.

man i love your stuff so much I download it and put it on my Ipod. :D

Dude, you made my day! As a fellow musician, you know that there's nothing better than knowing other people like what you're doing or have done.

I'll be rockin' in the grave, lol. Thanks again bro.

I'm going to post a few more. Another newer and one older, just for kicks.
