Some Rivera sound clips for those interested

I mentioned in my new amp thread that I'd be making clips if anyone was interested. Here they are. I recorded everything with a 57. Just a ten feet cord between the guitars and the amp. I didn't alter volume or tone on guitars when recording, the dynamics come from picking only. No reverb on the amp and no plugins or such. Just normalized.

From AC/DC...

The brit channel with most of the gain, sans boost, Tokai LP copy with stock Tokai pickups.

...to Slayer!

A tiny bit different eq and the boost engaged, a loose JB and sloppy picking, a Jackson superstrat.

VH

I always loved the tone on the original, I tried something a bit similar here. Another Jackson superstrat with a Dmz Fred in the bridge. Boost on but a little less volume from the guitar.

MF

A demonstration of the clean channel and the different notch switch settings. The first time it's the blackface and the second time it's the tweed. A Fender strat with CS'54 pickup. And a great piece from a great song! Scene points for anyone who recognizes it.

As you can see I'm mostly a straight forward rock player... i can't play any blues or such, sorry. Any comments appreciated... I'd especially love to hear how this compares to you other guys' Riveras and others.

Glad you liked it. Did you have any problems with the volume on the clips? Were they too quiet?

Nice clips bro. Sounds a LOT like mine, though mine does have toothier mids when driven. What do you have for your power amp valves?

One thing about those speakers:

The low end really starts to come out when you're pushing a lot of volume.

When I got my Duo Twelve, I was worried I was going to miss the low end I had when I was running a closed back cab. During practice it was a bit thin, but when I got it up past 6 or 7 on the MV, I got it all back.

The power tubes are Ruby branded Svetlanas fresh from this spring and the preamp tubes were JJs if I remember right. The JJs could make it a bit darker than yours I think. I may try something else in the V1 spot soon.

I had master on the brit channel on about three o'clock when recording. I got to play it with all knobs on ten in our last rehearsals and it sounded... well... nice! Here at home I hardly go past three or four as I have a small room to play in and too many neighbours.
