Someone else ever tried Entwistle pickups?

I bought the Entwistle HVX for my project, felt interested for cheapo pickup for cheapo project. Since I´m home for a weekend after two weeks in military service I thought I´d try it in my Jackson.

Cheap pickup, but damn it sounds good. It cleans up really nicely when rolling the vol down without getting muddy, and responds nicely whenever tweaking the tone and vol knobs. It has clarity, and shows some balls when chucking the lower strings. I was also surprised how good it sounds through clean setting compared to Jackson´s own bridge pickup, nice clear sound and no harsh higher frequencies. Pairs better with the original neck pickup than the original bridge pickup did. Middle position brings up nice out-of-phase sound.

Missing a pickup ring screw there..

And yeah, double screw coils and splittable.

Has somebody tried Entwistles? I was totally surprised about HVX, didn´t expect an inexpensive pickup to be this good. After playing the Jackson it seems that I need to buy another pickup for my project.

Most of the Artec made pickups (Entwistle, GFS, Dragonfire, Guitarheads, Calig, etc) are great, and not just for the price.

Yeah I had a pair of neodymium HDN's in my Jackson for a while & they were good..very clean and tight & balanced but lacking something....overtones/grit/character maybe?

Ebay?.....I saw some really cheap pickups on there that had nice DC resistance on them a while back....I almost bought some for a project but then I remembered I still had my old INF ibanez pups ....may start looking at the old Ebay yet again for some cheap deals and hope for the best.....

I share shop space with the US distributor of Entwistle Pickups, and so have installed many of them over the past 9 months or so. I was also really surprised by the HVX. Great rock and roll pickup. I just recently sold a 335 style guitar that I installed a set of HV58s into. Nice round, warm tones. The HV58+ is really good, too, as are the AS57 single coils.
