Something new for my semi-hollow

Hi,
I'm using a SHPG-1 in bridge in my ibanez AS73. I need a pickup for neck. The guitar sounds to bright (using Schaller Golden 50) any ideas?
Blues/jazz/rock.

Using a Fender Hot Rod.

Maybe SH-2?

Re: Something new for my semi-hollow

Is the PG in the bridge not too bright? I've found it too bright in almost everything I've tried it in. The Jazz is not the correct cure for a bright guitar. You could try a PG neck. It is way less bright than the PG bridge. Other options could be a Whole Lotta neck, AlnicoII Pro, or a Dimarzio 36th Anniversary.

Re: Something new for my semi-hollow

People around here really like the Seth Lovers for semi-hollow guitars.

I agree with Mr. B, the SH-2 Jazz is one of the brightest humbuckers out there. Definitely will not cure your blues.

+1. PGB's are bright and thin. The problem is the OP is using bright PU's. It may not be the guitar. A warmer PAF would be a better choice, like Seth's, WLH's, & A2P's.

Re: Something new for my semi-hollow

In general I find semi hollows to be bright guitars naturally, Don't be afraid to use 250k pots even with a neck humbucker. If you have a rear access panel I would experiment with 250k pots or 500k resistors to make one or both of your pickups see a 250k pot. Semi hollow bodies are a pain to rewire through the f holes.

Not if you know what you're doing. I can get all 4 pots back in a semi hollow in 5-10 minutes. All you need is a long stiff wire or a piece of aquarium tubing; put it thru a pot hole and up thru the F hole, attach it to the pot stem, and pull it thru. Voila! I use forceps to hold the stem while I slip the washer and nut on. I only have to do this with neck tone pots. The other 3 pots I can lift into place with forceps. I've rewired several dozen F hole guitars this way. No reason for it to be an ordeal.
