Sony Headphones MDR-V900 vs MDR-V900HD
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My bass player has a set of Sony MDR-V900 headphones that I really like. I am a singer and these headphones work well for tracking vocals although they are a little boomy. I went and bought a pair of them not realizing the headphones are the SonyMDR-V900 (HD) model. They are black and the regular MDR-V900 model is grey. They do sound different. The newer HD model seems to have more clarity and highs but less bass. The aer fatigue could be sooner on the newer HD model but it is a good vocal frequency and seems to make the vocal stand out more compared to the MDR-V900 grey model.
Does anyone have any experience with either of these? Has anyone done a comparison? What are the differences? I am just wondering if I have a bad set of headphones as they were a guitar center display model that were in the store for a while.
I also have a pair of AKG K240 headphones and tried the Beyerdynamic 770 model but it was too distorted and not very loud. The Beyer dynamic seemed to be a flatter sound compared to the Sony headphones. I mix on Yamaha ns-10 speakers but am looking for closed back headphones to track vocal and guitar (seperately).
