Sound of Different Seymour Duncan Humbuckers

Good Day.

It seems like there is a significant Difference in the Tone between Humbuckers and Single Coils.

I am thinking of Buying a TB-16 59/Custom Hybrid, But I listen to this Clip from Frank Falbo. Based on what I can hear from this Youtube Video. It seems like in case of some humbuckers, You can just Change the Gain and EQ of an AMP or get a EQ Pedal to make one Seymour Duncan Humbucker sound like the other. I notice in the video that the 59/custom hybrid has more highs than the JB, Is it just a EQ setting away from getting a similar tone ?

If you're gonna use pedals, you're better off going with a lower output pickup because they sound more natural with the fx. The lower output will preserve the highs and character thru the fx. While if you have a hotter pickup it will be muddy in the fx and adding highs back doesn't end with the same natural result.

EQ can certainly change the sound of a pickup, but not the 'feel'...how compressed it feels. I believe a good player can blur the differences between pickups (and guitars), too. But a good pickup can make a player feel like they can play better, so it is worth experimenting until you find the one that makes you feel great.

It seems like in the video, 59/Custom hybrid sounds closer to the JB than the JB to the 59 :)

I wouldn't say that. The EQ of the Hybrid is way closer to the 59 to me. It has a little more compression than the 59, but not nearly as much as the JB.
