Soundclips for Dummies.

Hello all.

I was wondering if anyone can give me step by step instructions on how to record onto a PC and post clips on here.

What programs do you guys use? What kind of interface do you need?

What hardware do you have to record with? I use my black box with the included free mic and now have gotten a seinheizer e609, i then use the included software to record it.

At this point I have nothing but a bunch of preamps.


I guess I'll be starting from scratch. Any recommendations on what to get?

If i remember correctly you have a GT-8? Does it have a usb out???

If not, run a line from the output of that to the line in of your soundcard.

As far as recording programs go, try Audacity or Reaper (both free)

Once you have the mp3 done, goto soundclick.com, make an account, upload song, use linking tool, copy and paste link here.

Well, my main rig is my GT-8 into a Mesa 50:50 through a pair of 2x12 cabs.

When I get a Celtic I'll start micing stuff up. :naughty:

I have a Fender Acoustasonic amp that I mic my Boogie, acoustic, vocals ... whatever. Then I do a line out into the PC's line in. The software I use is MultitrackStudio from www.multitrackstudio.com as I remember it didn't cost much (3-4 years ago). It looks like a recording board on the screen. My soundclicks were all made with this software. I've liked it.

Line6 toneport is an awesome choice for guitar recording.has two mic ins and 2 instrument ins.Phantom power and typical pod thing !
sony acid pro ,ableton live 5.3 ,cubase sx3 ,nuendo 3 are common programs on pc basis.The Logic is the Mac reference for recording.
Ableton is super esy to use ,very well for quick recordings and trying different tones with the same backround.
Acid Pro from sony is very versatile ,it's really stron when you use different samples and midi.But the midi editing is not as good as Cubase.Cubase us the best program to write drumms on midi.And the mixer is awesome.
I have never used Logic.But the results i hear from different sources are very well.
Using WaveLab will give you some mixing ,editing options.Very usefull to "finish" a new idea.
IZotope ozone is a good tool for Mastering.
And for the drumms .Toontrack is the popular company now.Really easy to use and killer sounds.EZDrummer is the latest product!

I'm assuming you use your Acoustasonic for its preamp right?

Line 6 RiffTracker if you want to be up & running quickly, it's what I'm using. Great for recording n00bs like myself.
