Source for chrome Hex poles?

Does anybody know of a source for chrome 5-40 hex poles similar to those in the full shred or a lot of dimarzio products? I can’t find them in a grade suitable for poles at any online fastener distributor, all seem to have a high carbon content stainless steel. Addiction FX is also no longer carrying the 1018 grade chrome ones. The closest I can find is nickel, but those can hold a charge, and they are the wrong size.

I know I can order them from dimarzio but that’s a pain.

DiMarzio takes PayPal now rather than just money orders.

I have been looking for a source too as I think the DiMarzio ones are somewhat softer than 1018.

If you find a better or cheaper source let me know, I need a set for an oem black winter I got with double row Allen’s

That’s good to know at least. Before you had to mail a check or money order and play a waiting game.

If I do find a good source, I’ll certainly post, but it might be something that may have to be custom made.

Do you need more than twelve of them? If you just need a few you can buy a cheap Chinese pickup like this one and take the screws off of it.

Also I'm not sure why you want 1018, but 1010, 1215 and similar grades will perform the same.

Re: Source for chrome Hex poles?

FWIW, the ones on DiMarzio pickups like the PAF Pro or Dominion are slightly longer than the ones Duncan uses on the Full Shred. Their length is in between the Duncan filister and the Duncan hexes.

I suspect the thread might be slightly different too. I've swapped those DiMarzio ones into Duncan pups, and when I take them off and screw the stock Duncan filisters back in, they always end up a bit loose. Looser than they were before making the swap.

Do you want grub screws (DiMarzio) or cap screws (Duncan)?

You can get either at McMaster.

Re: Source for chrome Hex poles?

Thanks man! McMaster should be delivering tomorrow. Then we'll know for sure :)

Re: Source for chrome Hex poles?

Make sure those screws are an alloy composite that is suitable for poles. A lot of stainless and plated steel isn’t.
