Speaker gurus, would these two drivers . . .

Re: Speaker gurus, would these two drivers . . .

id be thinking its a big difference. Why do you want to mix it up anyway?

You can do it but the 20 watter is gonna get lost quick...

A plain version Greenback is 98db and wil be much closer but still will favor the H30

Just an idea i am playing with.

The one is classic rock crunch, while the other has a bit more in the low end.
I thought together they can cover more ground, in a good way.

Plain version is the G12M25 Greenback, NOT the Heritage version which FWIW, a lot of guys think sounds better than the Heritage.

As for mixing the 2 I think the h30 will just stomp the 20 watter not to mention the additional low end you'd get from a single h30 isn't even worth talking about IMHO.

If you're only gonna run 2 speakers just run a V30 and an H30...thats a GREAT mix that will hold up to 60 watts and has plenty of low end.

Also while we're at it I'm sure you're looking at the Heritage H30 too...don't bother...it's not really more low end its more like a more punchy low mid thing over the 75th Anniversary G12H30...

with 2 mixed speaker cabs....which one do you get the sound guy to mic?

Which ever...

In my V Front Super I use one alnico (Weber 10A100T) and one ceramic (Weber 10F125) and love it...live I, as a general rule mic rthe alnico but I have picked the caramic too...

Sound guy?
Mic?

GUITAR?!

What mythical fairyland do you live in, sir, where guitar players' amps are mic'd?!

Sounds wonderful!!! :)

Yeah, go with a V30 and a GH30. You'll have great mids, lows, highs, punch and crunch.

Re: Speaker gurus, would these two drivers . . .

I run clones of those (WGS) and love the tone but the clones are 100dB each so no sensitivity mismatch and I believe thats what matchless DC30 cabs have (modded celestion greenbach and H30)

Re: Speaker gurus, would these two drivers . . .

matchless used to pair the g12m and g12h and it was a great sounding match up but not very thick on the bottom breaks up alot if you hit it hard.

ive have a g12h/v30 pair in my 2x12 for years and havent found anything i like more. its a great pairing, you get a more aggressive top and bottom with more breakup from the h30 and a cleaner punchier mid range from the v30. they balance each other very well and its a loud ass cab. my vibro king 2x12 is louder than my friends 1960a
