Speaker magnet damaged??

I have a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker in a 1 x 12 combo. I have noticed that the amp has been sounding a little "off" for a while now. Checked all connections and tubes. No fault found so far.

I recently noticed that the plug of an extension cord, which i foolishly had left in the cab of the combo, was "stuck" to the V30 magnet. No idea how long it had been like that.

Could this have damaged the speaker in any way, therefore altering the sound?

unless is chipped pieces of the magnet, you arent going to hurt it. if the plug punched a hole in the speaker cone thats a problem but a visual inspection should take care of that

no worries there...a heavy impact to a magnet can cause it to lose some or all of its intensity...though I've never seen it happen. One speaker related issue I would check would be the mounting screws...combo amps have a greater potentioal to work fasteners loose. A loosely mounted speaker can sound very odd.

You might want to share the amp make/model and approximate age as well.
