Speaker Suggestions...

I'm looking to get a new speaker for my 80's fender concert. Gotta be at least 60 watts. I'm looking for Some added low end, and low mids. I don't dislike the way the amp sounds right now with the fender "special design" speaker, I just know it could be better with something else.

I'de prefer to go with Weber if at all possible. Just cause they're cheaper than most the other guys, and I've heard nothing but great things about weber. But don't limit your suggestions to just webber, if someone else makes something that would work for me, then I wanna know about it!

Thanks for any help guys, I'm totally clueless about speakers.

Re: Speaker Suggestions...

It is difficult to judge your request LF without any description of how you find the current speaker.

Is it a bright speaker? Any ice-pick in the ears? Do you want really strong mids? How would you like a rolled off top end?

Tell us about "where you are" so we cal advise you "where to go".

Re: Speaker Suggestions...

Check out Eminence's Patriot and Red Coat series. I don't know what you are looking for, but they cover a lot of ground w/those two series.

They have very reasonable prices. The Eminence website is a good place to start! Good luck!

Oh yeah, haha. Well as it is right now, it tends to be a little brighter than I'de like, and the mids seem to be focused more towards the Upper mids, an can get a little ice picky at times. Theres plenty of bass, its just over whelmed by the Highs, and high mids. I would like strongER mids but, I don't particularly want the main focus to be on any one freq, Just sorta balanced. Maybe a little stronger in the mids than elsewhere thouogh.

Re: Speaker Suggestions...

You might try an Eminence Red, White and Blue if you want a little less on top but still middy. The R,W&B is a smooth speaker. A Tonespotter would be a good choice also. It has the flavor of an overgrown G12H30 but has a bigger bottom and a little less up top. You may want to look into one of Weber's G12-65 copies, I believe it is the Weber 1265.

Good luck in the search. :)

Yeah, I've been looking at they're site. Theres an unbelieveable amount of speakers they make! haha. Any Idea what the "Common wealth" sounds like? Looks sorta like a JBL or EV clone.

Re: Speaker Suggestions...

i HATED the red white & blues

maybe a classic lead 80?

they don't have a lot of low end but that's about the only problem i can see, they're pretty balanced other than that

basically what you're asking for is a lot of lows, a lot of mids, not a lot of high mids, and a good dose of treble

and i can't really think of anything that fits that criteria

a mix of a greenback & a g12h30 mix would work perfect, if not for the SPL difference & wattage issue
