speaker wattage question

:smokin: if i have two 20-watt speakers in series, does that give me 40 watts of handling power? what if i have them wired in parallel?

1st question - Yes.
2nd question - Same

As an example, a 50 watt head into a 2x12 must have speakers that can handle at least half of the heads output, or 25 watts.

A 100 watter into a 2x12 would need to have each speaker be 50 watts or better.
