speakers, mixing and placement

So I want another cab, one of the new Avatar Vintage 4x12s so I'm trying to get set on speakers.

I'm pretty convinced that I want the mids and smoothness that V30s offer, hellatone 60s in avatars case, but I think I want to mix in something to fill out the sound a bit. I was thinking swamp thangs. I've hear they are a good mix, but i have no experience with that mix.

Has anyone done it? Or can anyone give me feedback on swamp thangs.

What I'm hoping to achieve is a basic v30 sound with more powerful bass and a little bit more ringing on the top end, if that makes sense.

In addition i was wondering about placement of the speakers. If I were to go 2 and 2 what difference does placement make? X pattern, ST on the bottom, v30s on the bottom?

Thanks in advance

Re: speakers, mixing and placement

I use the HElletone 60. To fill out my sound I bought a Helletone 30. My sound has cut but is full and juicy. I wish I bought that one sooner.
The G12H has more bass and lower mids with less high end compared to the V30. They sound great together. Thick and meaty

I love the swamp thang in the right cab. In a brighter more open cab, they sound full and warm. In a dark and bassy cab, they get real thick. They love an open back or ported cab. I have one paired with an Emi Tonespotter in an old Gibson 2/12 that is ported. Really love the sound. Just huge and open. I don't like crunchy speakers, I like smoothness with clarity and warmth, one thing the Swampy does very well.

I have greenbacks on top and g1230s on the bottom. I tried a cross pattern but that makes the greenback tone less significant from a perspective of standing close to the amp. Great combo for classic Marshall tone.
