speaking of p90s...

i have a set of vintage p90s in my reverend slingshot and guess what?

i can actually approximate the tone of the sp90-1n with the sp90-1b with a 3/4 turn of the tone control.

initially, i thought my ears are shot. but after letting my bandmates and my wife a/b them without telling they are different pickups, they swore they sounded the same.

just wondering if anyone has the same experience with the same model of p90s or humbuckers but wound for different position i.e. 59b/59n.

fwiw, i am sure the next guitar i get will have a single p90 in the bridge.

Maybe they sound the same but might not respnond the same.. Just my 2cents

Btw.. are you beggining to think Gibson Melody Maker?
Where did you get yor slingshot from?

Re: speaking of p90s...

yes they sound the same but not the response. the same pickup in different positions will have a different response too.

i was thinking of building a guitar with a single p90 in the bridge but just kept putting it off. i got my slingshot from the states.

Re: speaking of p90s...

Do you like the Duncans better than the stock Reverend pickups? I have a Slingshot too, and I was thinking about changing the pickups. The sound is good, but I think it can be better. If the pickups are that similar, maybe it's worth trying a set of Antiquities, or the SP90-1 in the neck with an SP90-2 or SP90-3 in the bridge. Does anyone else have experience with any of those P90s? Thanks.
