Re: Spina modded Crybaby wah
A note on how John felt about it's performance:
The pedal works
great, you can turn up or turn down the volume to get either a boost or
unity
gain between your wah on and off volumes....The "Q" pot is cool because
it
changes the character and how the wah sweeps...It's subtle but you'll
soon
realize how it changes the sweep of the wah..I Love to peg the Q pot to
the
right(This is the 100k setting)and this is the value used in the early
Vox
Clyde wahs that Hendrix,Page, and Clapton used....And Trower....This is
a
very vocal and more extreme setting that I like...If you set the pot
all the
way off or full CCW,your right back to the stock Crybaby resistor value
of
33k....And you have all the values in between 33k and 100k to
try....Trust
your ears though...
The internal "gain" pot on the board is set to 330 ohms...Turning it
CCW
will clean up and remove gain from the wah...Factory stock settings are
"usually" 390,470,and 510 ohms....If you gain the pedal up too
much,it'll
get muddy so stick to 330 ohms or higher...
The BC109 Transistors are smoother and add some lows to the wah...I
Love the
BC109s and I use them in every wah I own....I Own 4 wahs right now!
LOL..
Rolling back the volume on your guitar slightly also is a quick way to
clean
up your wah tone,or back down a bit on the wah's volume control...Your
wah
has an inherent overall boost now because of the gain settings and the
changes I Made in values of caps and resistors on the board...Your wah
is
close to a Teese RMC1,but isn't as bassy as that wah...The RMC1 also
doesn't
have any extra adjustments either inside or pots on the outside...The
RMC1
would cost you $175 and my modded wahs sound better..[/I]
