Splawn Quick Rod =Merry Christmas to me!

This thing is unreal. I turned all the knobs down and fired it up.. it sounded great with everything on 0. I must have jammed through it for 20 minutes before I realized I had the bass, mids and treble on 0 !! I started playing with it and I can't get a bad sound out of it. Amazing quality too.

The distortiion is rich and full like classic VH and with the overdrive OFF its classic Back in Black era AC/DC. The lead channel is sick,, tons of rich sustain and harmonics just jump off the guitar.

The grain of the overdrive is so smooth even when doing hammer-ons or tapping it sounds like your using a pick. I just can't get over it.

The bottom is tight as **** too. I've never heard anything this tight in in my life ever.. I haven't even messed with the clean channel yet, but I'm working on sound clips for Scott Splawn and will include it here too.

1st one hes made with Boa Snakeskin cover,, (dated I know, but I'm in an 80's tribute band)

Schweeeeeeet !!! :saeek: :32:

Merry Christmas, indeed !!!

Hope you got some boots to match, that would truly be kick-ass!
Care to divulge how many beans it takes to acquire one of those little beauties?

Peace,

No, I don't mind. For a boutique quality amp its a steal at $1500.00. I had the Mullards EL34 upgrade for an additional $80 as well. The scary thing is that I ALMOST spend $2600 on a Soldano Decatone that doesn't sound nearly as good as this thing does. I'm so glad I didn't.

Nope, its not real snakeskin, just a really high quality tolex design.

Re: Splawn Quick Rod =Merry Christmas to me!

Wow, that thing looks so tacky... but so killer. It must sound absolutely amazing! Excellent. :D

Re: Splawn Quick Rod =Merry Christmas to me!

I know, its tacky as hell. I'm funny like that I guess. It really does sound incredible and you can get them in any color you want, even traditional Plexi black and gold which is classy looking and timeless.

Re: Splawn Quick Rod =Merry Christmas to me!

are his amps just modded marshalls or does he actually build them from the bottom up?

Re: Splawn Quick Rod =Merry Christmas to me!

He does both, mine is built from the bottom up. The quality on his own amps are much higher than a Marshall IMO. Mercury Magnetics transformers and hand wired, heavy steel casing and haeavy duty knobs, switches etc.

Re: Splawn Quick Rod =Merry Christmas to me!

Nice amp! I've heard most of the boutique Marshalls with good gain, and that one is at the top of the heap. Are you getting a matching 4-12 or 2-12 Splawn cab w/Vintage 30's eventually? I'd go for a crisscross of Vintage 30's and H-30's.
Be glad you didn't buy a Decatone.....even at $1500, they'd be too much.

Re: Splawn Quick Rod =Merry Christmas to me!

$1500?! sheesh, for the things i hear about splawn amps, thats a pretty low price

i like the idea of custom finishes as well.. i'd have nice, soft black leather heh - to the point where it blends in with furniture

Re: Splawn Quick Rod =Merry Christmas to me!

that looks SICK...i love the snake skin, something wild i would do, nice choice IMO!! you gotta do some real heavy metal clips of it...i wanna hear how it compairs to other amps for doing metal. once again, NICE!!

Re: Splawn Quick Rod =Merry Christmas to me!

Yeah, I'm goin to do some clips for sure within the next week covering as many styles as I can. People need to know abot this amp. I've never played such a quality product or dealt with such a great company as Splawn. Theres nothing like the feeling of the guy who built your amp calling you to talk about it and work with you on details.

I have a few nice cabinets an Marshall old JCM 800 with 75 w Celestions and a VTM with 30 w Celestions, but I am getting a few Splawn cabinets in the next month or 2.

Re: Splawn Quick Rod =Merry Christmas to me!

Congrats on picking up arguably the best Marshall plexi boutique amp around.
