First time here. Q: A friend asked me to redo a Les Paul with SD 5 wire humbuckers and run each split coil thru the tone pots. This would leave the volume knobs virgin for swells w/o accidentally bumping the setup. While theoretically this should be possible I can't find a wiring diagram for it anywhere. I have sp/st and dp/dt pots on hand but my first go was unsuccessful. I need a more knowledgeable electrician. I'm a Fender guy so this is all voodoo at the bottom of a well for me. I can't be the first one to wire this way though. Thanks in advance - Jim

You need to replace the tone pot with a push/pull pot and wire it like this:

That just shows one pup attached, but you do the same thing with the other pup on the right side of the p/p pot.
