split dimarzio megadrive?

Has anyone ever split a dimarzio megadrive? How did it work out?
Also, being as the two sides are different, can a fellow have it so he can select either coil,has anyone done this and how did each one sound to you?

Well I have one right now in a one hum guitar... So I don't have to worry about phase problems. I'll try splitting both sides when I get done with my exams next week and get back to you on that. GREAT PICKUP!!!

Right on! Let me know what kind of guitar and woods you using as well. I'm not even sure which instrument I'll put it in yet, but I know I feel the need to try one out. So I am also thankful for insights into how it behaves with different guitars.

In this thread I talked about how I do that with the Megadrive in the neck. It basically holds true for the bridge position, too. The bar coil is a super fat single sound, and the hex pole coil is kind of like a PAF Pro coil.
