splitting lil 59

i have lil 59 in neck of american strat sounds to les paul like before i buy a ssl-1 to get my strat tone back ,can splitting coil get me more strat tone?
like clean hendrix sound

No. It's not like splitting a full-sized HB. I've not had a Lil 59 but I have a JBJr and have split that, as well as experience with a split Hot rails. For both pups, they have seemed very thin and anemic, unless if used in series or parallel with another reg. single coil. Alone-a split lil/rails series pup just won't cut it for you.

+1 on Dave's comments - had the same thing (lil 59 neck) and split it was not good.
