spraypaint the neck?

hey could one spraypaint a neck a given colour?
what effects would that have? would the paint adhere well? would that interfere with playing?
Im asking cuz i saw keith richards with a very shiny silver tele and a pink pickguard and a pink neck. I assume he had something more professional done than having it sprayed, but im an a budget.
But yeah i would love a pink neck and pink pickguard on my black tele custom and i was wondering the best/least expensive way to do the neck.

I don't think you'd have a lot of trouble painting the neck. You may have to rough it up a little with some fine grit sandpaper, but I've painted Gibson necks before with no problem. Paint on a neck may make it feel a bit "sticky", but shouldn't really affect the sound all that much.

yea i usually sand the paint off my necks. i did a good job on my buddy's epiphone with 2 layers of linseed oil then wet sanding it smooth.
