Spring tweeks seasonal adjustments.

It is that time of year when I go through all of my guitars and and tweak them for seasoning. Neck adjustments, bridge adjustments and cleaning the electronics. My Les Paul Traditional which is my newest guitar needs a slight truss rod adjustment. My 2002 SG, is as also always perfect. My Strat it seems has reacted the most to the changes in humidity and temperature. I am wondering if it is a Fender thing this is my first year with the guitar.

Re: Spring tweeks seasonal adjustments.

Interesting thing the guy who did my refret said last Sat - He builds a lot of Fender type necks.

He said he has to kind of watch for a little movement when gluing in the skunk stripe (Before truing the board) - the woods absorb the moisture from the glue and move a little. That being said I've got some 1 pc Maple necks that seem to move very little. Guess it depends on the individual piece of wood more than anything else.

I'm in an area I really don't have to humidify though.

Re: Spring tweeks seasonal adjustments.

Yep it is a skunk stripe. Typically I leave all of the guitars in these cases and one or two on stands in the music room for quick access. The Strat was sitting out all winter and it was a wet one this year. The next few days are going to be hot and dry I might wait a couple before doing setups. Not looking forward to changing strings on 13 guitars anyway.

Wouldn't the winter indoor humidity level still be very low with heating? Cold air can't hold as much vapor as warm.

Re: Spring tweeks seasonal adjustments.

None of my guitars are sheltered, all out in the open in the conditions of my room, which is either dry and the coldest room in the house, or the most humid and hottest room in the house. I can't remember the last time I made seasonal adjustments to mine. Have no idea why.

My house built on granite and clay there is no drainage. We have a dehumidifier in the basement that runs 24/7, need to do something for the rest of the house soon
