Anybody ever add a magnetic pickup to a squareneck resonator (dobro)?

yes, done a few firebird pups and a few mini bumbuckers. 500k volume and tone

Mini-buckers are fairly low profile, right? It’d be cool if I could surface mount without altering the guitar drastically.

ive always altered the guitar but they are fairly low profile. depends on how much room you have

I think the way to go is with one of the thin pickups designed for resonators. Lace and National make two good ones. Some think the Flatbucker, which is made in Germany, might be the best. Ry Cooder uses one.
