Squier Custom Tele 1 vs. 2

What is the major difference between the sound of a Squier Custom Tele 1 and 2. The first version just has two chrome covered humbuckers and the second version has two P-90's. And if anyone has played these guitars, what did you think?

The pickups are the only difference. I have the Custom II and it plays great! Everyone needs a P-90 guitar in their arsenal. If have a 2 humbucker Tele, but I built as apartscaster because I wanted a rosewood neck and different wood.

Well that is good to hear. I know they look great. I have been thinking about getting the one with P-90's ever since they came out.

The Squier P-90 tele has caught my eye too. InstituteOfNoise, how about a review and overview? Please?

I frequent the TDPRI.com site quite a bit too. There are a coupleof threads about the P-90 version. Most pretty much love the guitar, especially for $200. I've used it for blaring rock stuff in to a Marshall Jubillee cranked! Done country sessions with it and recently some indie alt/rock sessions. It does it all. Not too long a go I posted to get some info about the pickups, since the are Duncan Designed. Evan Skopp here said they were equivalent to the Duncan vintage P-90, but with a slightly different construction. They sound great regardless! The neck almost has an unfinished feel to it, with slightly rolled edges. Very comfortable. It's also not the real small squire neck. I think it's a milimeter or two wider. The frets are the big thing to watch on these. They can be inconsistent in quality. If you are looking for a Les Paul Jr type of tone, this ain't it. It's brighter with more bite. It's just different, which is a good thing if you ask me. Definietly a winner!

They are both great guitars, The duncan designed P-90s sound good, I owned the chorme covered pick-up tele... Had to put in a JB Chrome Covered Humbucker, then I LOVED that guitar, unfortuatally sold it to some college kid and havn't seen it since, I want it back!
