squire overhauling... lestrat?

hey all, ive been wantin to redo my squire for a while, it plays well, i mean, all i need to do is take the 12s off of it and it sounds pretty decent... its a blue finish, stock everything... ive been thinking new pups, new tuners, new pickgaurd, i dont wanna redo the finish cuz im not experienced AT ALL with that stuff... dont wanna screw the guitar over... whats yalls ideas?

If it plays and sounds good, why do you want to change it? You make a change because there is something you don't like, not just for the sake of making a change. First, find out what borders you and then do something to improve it. Don't fix anything that is not broken.

pickups are terrible, main fix, other than taht just a couple minor cosmetic things

what are you thinking as far as pickups?

Is it a MIM Standard?

Strats are killer platforms for hot rod guitars...what do you want to do with it?

rock, more classic rock, ill leave the metal for my jackson... its an affinity by the way

uh squire affinity... umm.. 04 or 05 model...? i dont really, know and amateur itll be rock and classic rock, no metal for that one

if you're a clapton fan, may consider an active mid boost

if i was building it for classic rock, well, here's how it'd be:

no tone knob on middle, switch that over to bridge, make 3 way go (starting from position 1) QP - QP/TX - TX - TX/59 - 59

QP bridge
lil '59 middle
antiquity texas neck

Looks like you have rails in you mind. They're good for Rock. I have a neck Cool Rail at the neck, a bridge Cool Rail in the mid and a bridge Hot Rail at the bridge in my Strat. I split both Cool Rails with one Push/Pull pot and another Push/Pull pot for the Hot Rail. I put a pedal to it if I need distortion. It works well for me. I can actually play almost all kinds of music with it.
