Hey Duncaners,
i had a set of SSL-1 pickups in my Partscaster ("California Set"). Loved it, but wanted something a little more powerful in the bridge, so i got a Twang Banger - now i'm absolutely amazed by that SSL1-SSL1-TwangBanger set.
My favorite positions are BRIDGE-MID and BRIDGE-NECK (which is not a standard option on a strat and sounds kind of tele-ish, even more with the TwangBanger in the bridge). Now of course because the middle PU is reverse wound and polarity, the BRIDGE-MID as well as MID-NECK positions are hum-cancelling, while the BRIDGE-NECK position isn't. So i wondered, are the SSL1 neck and mid pickups identical, apart from the fact that one is RWRP and the other one isn't? And if so, couldn't i just get another RWRP SSL1 for the neck, which would give me hum cancelling in my two favorite positions? (I don't care about losing hum cancelling in the NECK-MID position which i rarely use anyway.)
Cheerio, sigi
