SSL-1 vs APS-1 in the middle (w/ SSL-1 neck)

What will give me more quack in the notch positions? Any extra thoughts on the combinations? Guitar is an MIJ strat (fender ST-58).

I'd more likely put the APS-1 in the neck, and the SSL-1 in the middle. Don't forget the Five Two, which is like a combo of the 2.

I've only done APS-1 neck / SSL-1 middle and dual SSL-1. IMO, dual SSL-1s have more quack.

That being said, APS-1 in the neck is an awesome smoky blues tone, SSL-1 mid is a spanky Blues tone and the combo is a really cool, complex mid tone.

APS is not a traditional Strat sound. SSL is.

The neck pickup alone is what I use most on a Strat so I'd want the SSL there.

I rarely use the middle by itself so I'd use the APS there.

Truth be told, I wouldn't use the APS.

It's a fine pickup but I'd go neck and middle Surfers or if I were on a budget two SSLs.

I like the Fralin SP43 for my bridge pickup on a Strat.

i love the aps2 but it is a smokier tone, still very vintage sounding, but not the classic bright mid scooped strat sound.

thanks a lot everyone! I went with the SSL-1 combo, and I hope they're on their way. Would've gone the Antiquity route but they kicked up the price recently and I figured it was a sign to go with the SSL's. Thanks!
