SSL-5 Left Handed?

Hi, I just wired up my SSL-5 and noticed I'd put it on upside down..then I thought, well, that's kindof like how SRV and Hendrix had their pickups, because they strung upside down effectivly..

So I was just wondering, if you can turn the SSL-5 upside down so easily (because the shape doesn't restrict the orientation) how come they sell a left handed stagger pattern SSL-5? Is there more to it than just which pole piece matches up to which string? (the biggest difference I can make out is that the pole piece which is usually sunk quite low is now under the A string now the B string..hoping i'm coming across reasonably clearly here...

ANyway I haven't reid it out yet, as whover worked on this guitar before me is even worse at soldering than I am and it seems he let loads of solder go on the contacts for the switch..attempts to recify it kinda made it worse and the contact is buckled, so i'm getting a new switch and starting fresh. If no one rekons having it upside down will be problem (once pup heigh is adjusted accordingly, maybe a little higher at the treble and lower at the bass to compensate the stagger pattern?) then i'll post again and say if it works.

Oh and yes, this was my first proper guitar soldering job. And yes, i burned my fingers...
