SSL5 problem

Hi everyone. I just installed an SSL5 on the bridge and I noticed that the B string sounds lower than the others. The pickup cover is a little higher than the magnetic pole of the B string due to the pu cables. could this be the problem?

Yes. The SSL5 follows a traditional fender stagger of polepieces. With traditional fender polepieces the B string is always too quiet and the G string is always too loud.

The SSL6 is a more modern flat pole design with the same wind and magnets as the SSL5 that corrects this problem.

Unless you have a 7.25" radius neck, go with the SSL-6 w/ the flat radius. You can use the 21 day exchange policy.

Thank you. however in the middle and neck position I have two customshop 69s which are well balanced and do not have this problem. my question is whether it is a question of the pickup cover being a little too high which perhaps blocks the sound or whether the pu is really made this way. I really don't want to open everything up again and change it. I asked around and only one person in ten complained about this problem

You can flip your pickups around. This way the volume dip is in the more powerful bass side rather than the treble side b string which is already weak sounding.

thank you for your suggestion. I'll try to do as you say but I think I'll have the problem on the A string.

The Plastic cover has no influence on the magnetic field of the magnet.
+1 for the SSL-6. The Vintage Stagger is BS unless you have a wound 3rd
