Kind of a stupid question, but will the new stack plus pickups (as a set of three) respond the same way to different switching mods (like series, out of phase etc) as normal single coils? Or will they not work becuse they are stacks?
You can't do series / parallel switching with them, but you can split them. And get this: when you split all three, positions #2 and #4 will retain the hum-canceling effect. How cool is that?
Correct me if I'm wrong, Sharkfin, but it seems like he's asking about standard Strat wiring mods, like two pickups in series or out of phase. (Not the pickups themselves)
Here's a follow-up to Evan's response: what would you get from splitting a Stack Plus? Obviously you lose the hum cancelling, but does the output and tonal character change?
I just wanted to know if this would be a useful mod.
