Stack vs. Rails

Has anyone compared the stack pickup for Strat (Classic Stack and Hot Stack) with the Rails pickups (Duckbucker and Vintage Rails)? What are the tonal differences and which do you prefer? Maybe my timing is bad with the new Rails and noiseless pickups coming out but I'm curious :).

Re: Stack vs. Rails

I am a big fan of the SD Stack pickups. They are a little warmer/middier than a true single coil but it's not a big departure and I actually prefer them to true singles tonally.

The VRs/Ducks are closer to a true single coil tonally and the clean tones are excellent though I find under gain they stay a little too clean for my tastes. True singles seem to have a little more growl under gain. It may be an outout issue and though i've never tested it out I think true singles tend to have a little more output.

Having heard the new 'Stack Plus" pickups I can tell you they are worth waiting for.
