Stacked p90

I have recently installed a seymour duncan p90 stack as a single pickup
on a les paul junior. I have coil tapped it using a push pull on the tone pot,
It still sounds a bit harsh in the split mode. I know that due to its position
it will sound like that, but does anyone have any ideas how to smooth out
that tone for a nice rhythm sound ?

Roll the tone pot off a bit? Unless you don't have a tone pot. In that case, you could make a switch on the ground that activated a rolled off tonepot, or drill your guitar for another pot.
