Stacked P90's - Telecaster Custom II

Hi,

The new Squier telecaster custom II is fitted with "duncan designed" P90's - which I am told are of the "stacked" variety.

What does "stacked" mean, and how does this affect the tone/sound produced?

Are they basically a humbucker in disguise (beneath a P90 coverplate)? Or do they have characteristics of their own?

What tone/sound will a stacked P90 produce? Are these stacked P90's capable of producing a similar tone/sound to the pickups used on a Jazzmaster?

"Stacked" simply means that these pickups are noiseless, as they use an additional coil to cancel the hum you would normally get from P90s. They are esentially a humbucker in the sense that they have two coils that cancel hum, but they should sound more like a P90 than a traditional humbucker...or at least, that's the goal. There are lots of good noiseless single coils on the market, but noiseless P90s seem to be a bit trickier to design for some reason. Duncan makes a P90 stack that has generally gotten good reviews, but it doesn't sound exactly like a real P90. I'm not familiar with the Jazzmaster, so I have no idea what kind of pickups they use or what they sound like.
