Stacking boost pedals...

I have tried stacking pedals, but haven't heard anything good. OD, clean boost, distortion, etc. Just didn't sound good at all.

I believe there is someone making a box with two DOD 250's (or YJM 308's) in one box. I have a YJM308, and noticed they are now on sale for $30.

Anyone ever try stacking boost pedals?

Bob

Cascading two germanium boosts will actually give you a fuzz face. Three, Tonebender. Four, Big Muff.

Im sorry bro but that is not right at all...

As for stacking pedals I do it all the time...sometimes a boost and an OD sometimes a boost and a distortion sometimes an OD and a dostortion sometimes 2 or 3 OD's...you can get a lot of really cool shades of saturation like that but it's not for everyone and the noise can get out of hand quickly.

Well, Chriss Oliva from Savatage used to put together two Boss Super Overdrives one into another, with drive on one or two and level all the way up on first one, and drive all the way down and level all the way up on the second one. He had great freaking metal tone.

Re: Stacking boost pedals...

I use two Boss DS-1s (one modded for a Mesa Mark series tone, the other as a fatter, gainier tube screamer) and a treble-boost overdrive/fuzz, all hooked up at the same time. Typically, two of them are turned on at a time.

Re: Stacking boost pedals...

sorry, just tellin' what i've been told from the buildyourownclone forums:

"would cascading the boosts help to add headroom?

i want to get the tri-booster, but almost every boost i've tried has sounded compressed. is this just one of the side effects of boosters, or have i not tried the right one?"

"Headroom....no. It will be the opposite. You will get an overdrive/fuzz when you cascade them. The fuzzface is literally two cascaded boosts. THe tonebender is three. The big muff is 4."

sorry for confusion

Re: Stacking boost pedals...

I've mixed and matched many of my distortions and overdrives. 2 of my favorite combinations so far are
amp < Boss MT-2 (w/ gain all the way down) < DOD250 < guitar
amp < Ibanez TS9DX < any clean boost unit < guitar
