Stand Alone Massive Fuzz Pedal

So right now to get the sound i crave I run a dano cto-1 into a swollen pickle. I love the combo to death but I'm craving a simpler solution. One where the cto-1 doesnt have to be on because I'm not a huge fan of it alone, and I have to leave it on almost all the time in order to go from clean to fuzz. I know i could use a TB looper but that just makes too big of a mess.

I was thinking a Harmonic Percolater clone, maybe something else. What pedals come to ming when you guys think of a monster sounding fuzz on its own?

An Earthbound Audio Supercollider is EXACTLY what you want. If I had any need for it at all, I would have kept it, but I just don't need that wall of fuzz sound.

Re: Stand Alone Massive Fuzz Pedal

I had a Swollen Pickle and had the same problem. I liked it, but I just got frustrated with all the knobs and adjustments. I ended up selling it and I got a SD Tweak Fuzz from GC. I work there and got if for only $30. I really dig it. It's a fuzz face sounding fuzz, the tweak knob just gives you six different tones that vary in gain and thickness. I'd very much like to test it against an actual fuzz face.

the supercollider is a muff clone though, right? Could it really be THAT different from the pickle?

Re: Stand Alone Massive Fuzz Pedal

Oh, and its not the tweaking that has me discouraged, its the clunkiest and that it relies on another pedal to get a big sound.

Re: Stand Alone Massive Fuzz Pedal

It was more of a double entendre than anything else, but yeah, it's definitely different than the Pickle. The Mids and Mass knobs are SUPER handy. I think you'll dig it a lot.

Re: Stand Alone Massive Fuzz Pedal

By monster sounding fuzz, do you mean a super saturated fuzz tone? Then you should definitely check out the Death by Audio Fuzz War.

Re: Stand Alone Massive Fuzz Pedal

I have a Skreddy Lunar Module on my board, and it's super flexible. You can crank the volume, back of the fuzz, and roll the body control up to make it sound like a distortion box, or pull the body all the way back and crank the fuzz for a Smashing Pumpkins style fuzz bomb. The two trim pots let you increase/decrease the amount of gain available in the fuzz knob and other fun stuff.
