Cool rails neck, lil '59 bridge with the Fender CS 69 in the middle if you can get the phase/polarity to work. Wire the coils to split in position 2 and 4. I did something similar with a guitar in the past and it was super cool.

Also, if/when you end up selling any of these, let me know.

Just curious why you have so many pickups you haven’t tried?

A few things actually!
Time! Some I found for a pretty good price indervidually.. and also not thinking they would pair well. Sometimes I'd get something then something I believed I liked better (at the time) would come up - And I have heeps I DO like! So Im going to put together scratch plates loaded and wired ready to drop into my guitars. Then If I want to change back I have the old settup ready to drop in.
I aslo didn't have a work bench set up! And Ive had a bit of a buying binge lately (there are still a few more I'd really like to get and try out) - I guess because I have time and a bench now! =)
I will keep you informed on current projects and the guitar theyre going in!

Re: Stash of Pickups I want to do something interesting with!

I had a small stash of pickups that was the result of a customer buying several guitars and swapping out pickups. One thing we learned from that was a pickup that didn’t sound good in one guitar sounded great in another.

Then he gave me the leftovers. I sold most of the ones I didn’t use in anything. I have one Duncan Jazz neck left.

But I’m a pickup maker so these days I make new pickups to replace the ones I don’t like in my guitars and I sell the rest off. [emoji16]

You've already got plans for Hot Rails/Cool Rail, so skipping those.

Even though they are usually used for styles outside what I've learned to do on the guitar, I'd have to get the TV Jones in a guitar, probably a semi-hollow... Though it might be a lot less messy to get a guitar with matching mounting. They are low output pickups, but very distinctive sound.

STK-7/STK-4m/STK-4 should be great for a noiseless strat, unless you want to use them for middle or neck in HSH/HSS setups?

TB-6b/SH-2n is a pretty common set for 80s hard rock and metal (particularly thrash).

I'd have to try the '59/Custom in something as well, maybe an HSS strat, perhaps '59/C with CS69 and lil '59 in neck? Not sure about polarity/wiring on CS69, though.

Seth Lovers and Pearly Gates are fantastic in the right guitars, too.

SH-11 Custom Custom or SH-14 Custom 5 are great bridge pickups for different guitars. Same pickup, just A2 for CC, A5 for C5. And there's a lot of other magnet swap possibilities. Custom with A8 was extremely popular in this forum for a while, a lot of people who find ceramic's high end irritating really like A8 for keeping most of ceramic's output and punch, but cutting out the bite and harsh treble. On the other hand, plenty of people like a ceramic Custom just fine, particularly in a warm guitar. Then there's unoriented A5, for something inbetween the CC & C5... More mids, but not as mid-focused as the CC. Or maybe you don't want to mess with magnet swaps, but the Custom is the starting place for a lot of people on that.

Also, don't be afraid to try some of the bridge pickups out as neck pickups, especially if you are using a hotter than PAF bridge pickup, a bridge PAF can work just fine in the neck, though it may take a bit of tinkering to get it tweaked to sit right (not be too dark or too loud).

lil' 59 or lil' Screamin' Demon might make good neck pickups opposite a hot, warm humbucker, in particular.

I’ll take those CS 69’s off your hands for you

Re: Stash of Pickups I want to do something interesting with!

The question is not "why do you have so many loose pickups?", but rather "why don't you have enough guitars to fit them in?".

YES! You're on the money I'd say!
I have a Epiphone Dot - Id like to put the TV Jonrs in! The problem Id have to work out is how to mount them - they didn't come with ears so Id have to screw them straight into the guitar - Not a lot of meat there. Maybe Ill gluue a coulple of pieces of thin particle board to screw the pickups to?

I have the Hybrid 59/C paired with the Jazz neck at the moment in a PRS S2 - not bad but Id like to pair the SH-16 with a more vintage sounding neck.. but I Do really like the Jazz neck on that guitar.

The CS69 were in a strat and I wanted the bridge a bit thicker so I put a lil Screamin'Demon in the bridge. At first I wasnt sure I like the whole configuration, so I started playing another guitar. I bought the STK 4s to pair with the lil' Screamin'Demon, but then when I picked up that start again I thought wow these sound good - not sure I want to change them! I was amazed that they all sounded great together - where as before I wasn't sure.. because I think I was still attached to the sound of the CS69 set. It really does take a while to play and feel and absorb the new pickups!
Then I got the STK 7 with the intention of puting it in the neck - so lil Screamin'Demon b, STK4 rw m, STK 7 n.

That's my logic, now at 20 guitars LOL
