STC-3 specification questions

Hello, there used to be more technical information on this thing I just put in my bass.
I'm a pretty technical thinker, so I'd like to know the Q and center frequency of the 3 bands an contour switch.

You're all awesome(This thing was WELL BUILT. I LOVE how tiny the board's gotten fit right in the cavity), and thanks in advance.

Re: STC-3 specification questions

bass cf: 20hz q: 0.67 range: +/- 20db
mid cf: 578hz q: 0.54 range: +/- 9db
treble cf: 6.6khz corner shelving type range: +/- 20db

slap bass boost cf: 83hz q: 1.79 +3db to + 9db
slap mid contour cf: 633hz q: 1.12 -3db to -11db

i just happen to have one in front of me

Re: STC-3 specification questions

Are you sure that's not the Music Man version?
As i recall the STC-3's treble wasn't a shelving.
I JUST realised I never checked the instruction(goes running).
But I appreciate the help regardless!

Re: STC-3 specification questions

Yeah, there's no info in the sintructions.
You gotta get that on the site somewhere.
Bass geeks are all about frequencies like guitar geeks are all about hand-wiring/winding.

Re: STC-3 specification questions

actually i bet that is the mm version

Re: STC-3 specification questions

STC-3 3-Band Active Tone Circuits

Control Center Q Range
Bass 30Hz .3 +/-12dB
Midrange 650Hz .68 +/-14dB
Treble 6.5KHz* 1.2 +/-15dB

Slap Contour
Bass Boost 83Hz 1.79 +3 to +9dB
Mid Cut 633Hz 1.12 -3 to -11dB

I hope that helps.

_______
* This is for the STC-3a. The center for the treble band on the STC-3p is 5.1Khz (in this case, "a" means for use with active pickups, "p" means for use with passive pickups).

Re: STC-3 specification questions

Awesome.
And it's very convenient than you put the active version first, as it's the one I have.

Re: STC-3 specification questions

hello, i'm new user! :friday:

resurrected the topic to ask you a question about the STC.

what are the differences between the 3 and the respective Bailey's??

thanks for the attention :1:

Re: STC-3 specification questions

On the STC-3M3 (MM compatible) version, the frequency info is all printed on the underside of the box. :smack:

Re: STC-3 specification questions

The Steve Bailey version has different EQ centre frequencies attuned to the needs of fretless bass guitar. The push-pull volume pot switch activates a fretless bass oriented preset tone instead of the Slap Contour mode of the standard EQ PCB.

Re: STC-3 specification questions

and this was obvius.

i want to know, if is possible, the exact frequencies and Q as above for the standard STC.

Y_u d_n't say. :smack:

i want to know, if is possible, the exact frequencies and Q as above for the standard STC.

The only SD/Basslines EQ on which I have seen exact frequencies published is the STC-3M3 for MusicMan Stingray. The info appears on the underside of the packaging.

Re: STC-3 specification questions

so the datasheet belove there aren't the correct for the standard STC-3?!
