STC-3a alternative wiring?

I'm interested in getting the STC-3a tone control circuit along with the AJB-5 pups. My bass is a 3 control config but the only wiring diagram for the STC-3 is for a four control config. I would rather not alter my bass, is there an alternative wiring scheme available for this preamp?

Hey badfunkn. Thanks for the post and welcome to the SD UGF.

How were you thinking of wiring your controls? (a) volume / slap; (b) pan / midrange; (c) bass / treble? I guess it could be done, but we don't have that harness wiring available. You'd need to get a custom made harness. And source the pots. Sounds like a hassle to me. Sorry.

I think the easiest alternative would be switching to the STC-2a preamp. It's optimized for a three-control bass: (a) volume / slap; (b) pan; (c) bass / treble. Sure, you lose the mid-range control, but you don't have to worry about a custom harness and finding those weird stacked pots.

That's my advice.
