Steinberger GR4 pickup problems

Hi everyone, newbie here. I have recently acquired a 1992 Steinberger GR4 that has the Seymour Duncan ssh set up of two single coil size Hot Rails and a Custom humbucker, volume and tone, and 5-way selector switch.
Bridge only seems fine, neck only seems fine. Middle position seems a bit quieter compared to neck or bridge and positions 2 (neck/middle) and 4 (middle/bridge) there is a significant drop in volume.
Anyone out there have any ideas what might be wrong? All the wiring seems to be correct. Hope someone has the answer.

Welcome to the forum, fellow Steinberger friend!

I'd make sure both coils of the Hot Rails are working in the middle position by tapping on the Rails when it is plugged in and that pickup is selected. Maybe that pickup is wired in parallel?

Thank you, Mincer.

Both coils are active on all pickups. All are wired black to live, green to earth and white and red are joined. This is a slightly more accurate description of the symptoms:

Position 1 (neck) - Normal
Position 2 (neck/middle) - Quieter than position 1
Position 3 (middle) - Quiter than position 2
Position 4 (middle/bridge) - Pretty much half volume!
Position 5 (bridge) - Normal

It's really got me foxed! Maybe the switch is dodgy?

Usually if it is a switch, it either hums or doesn't work at all. But hey, anything can be possible. Can you confirm the DCR of the pickups? Do you have access to a meter?
