STK-S6 and Cool Rails Comparison.

So I have a Cool Rails in the bridge of my Strat. I wanted to back to something more traditional by putting the STK-S4 in the neck and middle positions. I was wondering if you guys could give me a idea of what I would lose and gain if I decided to get STK-S6 for the bridge.

You'd get about more power and a lot more mids. The Cool Rails is sort of the single coil version of a Jazz humbucker. Vintage output with scooped mids. The S6 is essentially the opposite.

I'm surprised that the S6 has more power. I guess I'm wondering if I could use more mids in the bridge. I'm mostly doing 80's pop/rock with this setup (Police, Pretenders, U2) and some indie bands. I'm not too concerned with high gain applications.

Yeah, the Cool Rails is clean and clear and scooped, like a Jazz. It feels and responds like a vintage-output humbucker.

CR is a humbucker with moderate output and S6 is a louder single coil, albeit noiseless. I do like the more versatile CR bridge in a strat, so I'd keep it and get S4 middle and S7 neck.

Do you split the CR and the S4 when in the bridge/middle position?

i would have guessed that the stks6 and cool rails bridge were about the same output

I think they are, but EQ'd differently. The S6 certainly sounds like a single coil to me. The CR doesn't. So it is up to you what you are going for.
