Strange neck pickup sound

Hey, i today fitted a set of Mustiane LWs to my guitar... I used the 1vol 1tone 3 way switch setup.

The bridge pickup seems fine, but switch to the neck and it sounds very weak... almost like its a low output single coil.... its not to do with the pickup heights... they have been messed around with to check.

The wiring is very clean has been checked and double checked.. there are no crackling noises or grounding issues.

The only thing i can think of is that the neck pickup is faulty... does anyone have any suggestions of possible other solutions??

Thanks,
David.

Re: Strange neck pickup sound

If the LW pickups have the Quick Connect plug-in cabling, make sure that your connectors are the correct way about.

Check the solder joints between the PU output "hot" wire and the selector switch. Also make certain that no stray ends are making contact with any metal parts that they should not.

Check the physical condition of the selector switch. The traditional Switchcraft "Gibson" toggle selector actually works by de-selecting the pickup that you do not want. Damage to the sprung contacts or a physical obstruction could leave one pickup apparently off at all times.

In the last resort, solder the output wire of the neck pickup directly to the jack socket. (Use a temporary extension wire, if necessary.) If it still sounds quiet, the PU itself probably is at fault.

Finally, have you checked your 9v power supply wiring and its insulation?

EDIT: For any more detailed assistance than this, you are going to have to provide photographs.
