strange pickup wiring

well, i wanted to see if any of you could help me out with this. i have a godin sdxt and i want to put another volume control for the neck and middle pickups. it's an h/s/h pickup configuration. so what i want is 2 volume controls and one master tone control. 1 volume for the bridge pickup and 1 for the neck and middle pickups. i hope that you can help me out with this.

Re: strange pickup wiring

This could be tricky, and less than ideal, but its possible. Is the Godin 5-way more or less like a standard Fender 5-way?

Re: strange pickup wiring

Assuming this is your more or less typical Strat-style master volume set up where the switch is between the pickups and the volume pot, the best idea I can come up with off the top of my head is to reverse that order, e.g., put the two volume pots between the pickups and the switch:

1) Use a concentric pot (2 pots on the same shaft turned by the same knob) for the middle and neck pu's;

2) Naturally a normal pot for the bridge pu;

3) Wire the tone pot between the switch and the output jack.

I was thinking something like this:

This uses a standard 5-way. The red and blue boxes show the two sections of the switch. The only time the two volume controls interact is when you have the middle/bridge notch position selected.

Artie

btw - even though that diagram shows 3 singles, the wiring is still the same.
